Maximilien Luce was a 19th-century Neo-Impressionist painter. The artist painted over a dozen versions of the west facade of Notre-Dame de Paris. This painting is one of the largest in this series, offering an imposing view in vertical format. The painter uses a divisionist technique to capture the details of the architecture and the evening light over the city. The cut-out emphasizes the splendor of the cathedral, but also all the modern life unfolding around it!
