The cockade is one of the symbols of the French Republic.
You can for instance see a French cockade on the revolutionary Phrygian cap worn by Marianne.
The French cockade is in the form of circles in the colors of the French flag: red on the outside, white in the middle and blue on the inside.
Note that the English cockade has a reverse color scheme: blue on the inside and red on the outside.
